Severe caustic injury of oral cavity may cause microstomia, shallowing of vestibule, and adhesion of tongue. They will in turn cause difficulties in mouth opening, swallowing, ingestion and phonation. The facial appearance may also be changed. We presented a case of tongue adhesion caused by caustic injury during an attempt of committing suicide. The adhesion was lysed and mouth floor resurfaced with STSG in two operations. The resultant range of motion of tongue was acceptable.
