This paper aims to discuss, through job analysis, the necessary qualifications, skills, and expertise required of professional interpreters since the profession emerged in Taiwan, together with the career development of interpreters. A systematic and comprehensive analysis of the jobs and responsibilities of the conference interpreter is carried out and compared with the current curriculum and teaching objectives of the interpretation training institutes in Taiwan, in an attempt to determine how the curriculum meets pragmatic requirements. The paper further explores the manner by which interpretation training curriculum can be adjusted during the formulation process to better satisfy market needs.
