影視翻譯(audiovisual translation)屬於多模式(multimodal)和多媒體(multimedia)文本翻譯,為應用翻譯研究中一項新興主題。影視翻譯結合影像、文字、聲音、音效等多模式的特色,正與現今以網路多媒體(如YouTube)為重要資訊傳播媒介的潮流相互呼應。科技進步及資訊傳播方式的改變,使得影視翻譯在翻譯實務及理論研究中產生有別以往的影響,其教學策略與理論架構值得深入探討。影視翻譯在高等教育課程中多為選修科目,相關教學研究亦處萌芽階段。作者從影視翻譯本質及翻譯教學理論出發,探討影視翻譯在大專院校課程的角色,並提出教材設計、教學活動與評量的原則。文中提供的教案範例包含教學目標、文本特點分析、翻譯特點分析、教學程序及教材教具,供研究所及大學部影視翻譯教師做為參考。
While audiovisual translation (AVT) has been one of the rapidly expanding areas in Translation Studies (TS), the attention it receives in teaching is still minimal in contrast with its growth in research. This paper begins with a brief introduction to the features of AVT and its development in the recent years- advancement that has considerably changed its place in TS and translation teaching-and elaborates the applications of translation teaching theories in subtitling for undergraduate classes and for graduate programs aimed at training professional translators. To conclude, a lesson plan, structured in the instructional sequence of the Cognitive Academic Language Learning Approach, for introductory subtitling is presented as an example to help teachers design their lessons.
