A Case for the Treatment of Long-term Cough

摘要

咳嗽是指肺氣上逆作聲，咯吐痰液而言。為肺系疾病的主要證候之一。許多醫師皆怕碰到咳嗽，有句俗語說：「土水師怕抓漏，醫生怕治嗽。」這就是說它雖然是很平常的病，但卻是不容易掌握與治療。不過，後學認為前面那句話應該是針對西醫而言；站在中醫的觀點上，只要是辨證正確，咳嗽反而非難纏的疾病。我曾經治療好多例，患者因長期咳嗽經西醫反覆治療效果不彰，才轉而接受中醫診治，因而症狀快速改善，甚至痊癒。現僅舉一例，附上臨床思路，提供諸位先進同道參考指正。

The cough means the sound generated from the reverse flow of gas from lung with the phlegm. It is one of the symptoms of lung diseases. A lot of doctors are all afraid of treating the cough. A folk adage says: ”The construction technician is afraid of dealing with leaking, the doctor is afraid of curing cough.” It means that though the cough is a very common disease, it is not easy to be grasped and treated. However, I think that the preceding sentence should regard the Western medicine. As for the viewpoint of Chinese medicine, so long as the differentiation of syndrome is correct, the cough is not a tangled disease. I used to cure many patients. They suffered from long-term cough, and the treatment was invalid by Western medicine, so they came to get the treatment of Chinese medicine. Then, their symptoms were improved fast, even fully recovered. In this study, I cited one case and described my clinical thinking. I hope the other colleagues can consult it and make comments.
