摘要

Proxemics是環境心理學範疇裡的一種對於人類空間行為的研究。自Edward T.Hall 1963年首創此字、揭櫫此一研究以來，在國外已吸引相當多研究者的興趣。Hall最初的研究焦點集中在不同文化群體的人際距離上，但後繼的研究者已將其研究範圍擴大到人類空間行為的整體。不過，「proxemics」這個字的中文譯名並不一致，在各種中文文獻中可以找到十五種以上不同的譯名。本文嘗試就國內外研究者對「proxemics」的解釋與翻譯做一整理，提出一個較為貼切的中文譯名：空間行為學，並建議本土研究的可能方向與議題，以供參考。

Proxemics is the study of human spatial behavior, and is rooted solidly in the field of environmental psychology. The realm of study, as well as the term, was originated by E. T. I-JaIl in 1963. It was originally focused on interpersonal distances found among cultural groups, but now is synonymous with the study of human spatial behavior. However, as Chinese researchers started to take on the study of proxemics, they translated it into, at the least, more than 15 diverse terms. This paper sorts out these terms to propose a holistic Chinese translation: (literally means the study of spatial behavior), and to suggest domestic research issues pertinent to the realm of study.
