“性別角色與兩性關係”的教學設計與成效-淡大核心課程“社會分析”學門的教學示例

The Instructional Design and Its Effectiveness Regarding a Core Course in Tamkang University: "A Study of Gender and Sex"

摘要


淡江大學為要提高教學品質,大力推動核心課程(註一)以達通識教育的目的,本文乃作者任教核心課程社會分析學門(註二)中的兩性課程的教學設計,希望能將學生的知識與經驗做整合。 這項設計同時涵蓋課內與課外的學習;課堂學習分成15個主題講授、問答、討論,並作分組報告。而課外學習包含指定閱讀書籍、個別做「打破性別常規實驗報告」、「閱讀剪報」,並為分組報告做準備等。分組規定不可單一性別,不可單一科系組成。一組報告時,須受全體同學的詢問並做回答,課堂的表現列為重要的成績考核。 從上課氣氛、學生的作業、學習心得陳述、及學校的教學評鑑等,顯示教學活動與學習成效相當好。分組報告的問難、答辯、老師講解的活動,學生的反應最熱烈,學習效果極好。而「打破性別常規」實驗造成許多深具意義的影響,老師講授、問答、討論較平常且較枯躁,交剪報資料的效果不彰,誠宜刪之。唯學生表示負擔頗重,須要再謀求適宜之道。

This paper is to describe the author's instructional experiences in teaching a core course at Tamkang University. The instructional design of ”A study of gender and sex” includes introduction to the fifteen most important topics related to current gender issues and also includes related activities in and out of class. Both are designed to fulfill the main objective of the course: to examine the gender issues and relationship of the two sexes from biological, psychological, and social perspctives in order to establish an egalitarian concept, attitude, and harmonious relationships. Teacher led lecturing, questioning, encountering, and small group presentation and debate are common activities in class. The small groups are organized following the rule: no single sex, no single academic background. During a presentation, all group members are challenged by other classmates and the instructor. Out of class, students should prepare the group presentations and individually do extensive reading, newspaper episode collection and a gender norm violaton project. Students' assignments, final feedback sheet, class climate, and the school's evaluation reflect that the lecturing and encountering are effective. The gender norm violation experiment has a substantial impact on their feeling and thinking as well as their relationship pattern. The small group presentation broaden their perspectives in regard to the concept of and feeling about the opposite sex and different people. Throughout the semester, students show excitment in learning and often express that this class is very impressive. However, some have said that the assignment load is too heavy. The newspaper episode collection has not shown itself to be as effective as other activities in achieving the course objective and thus will be cancelled.
