摘要


Hayes及Wheelwright【1】依Skinner【2】之取捨(trade-off)理論,曾提出產品應結合製程選擇的產品-製程矩陣,以協調製造與行銷功能。但隨環境劇烈變化下,Ariss及Zhang【3】的實證研究顯示,廠商可同時達到高品質、高可靠性及低成本之競爭績效;並且廠商具有之彈性製程能力,改變產品-製程矩陣的可行解區(feasible zone)。事實上,有很多廠商運用資訊科技;譬如電腦整合製造、彈性製造系統、企業資源規劃以生產高品質、高彈性、低成本及達到快速服務之產品。本文旨在說明資訊科技在現今製造環境中,扮演了重要角色。

Hayes and Wheelwright【1】developed the concept of product-process matrix to emphasize the importance of cooperation between manufacturing (processes) and marketing(products) to achieve unified goals based on Skinner’s trade-off theory【2】.However, the environment has changed dramatically, and recently, Ariss and Zhang【3】have empirically verified that firms can achieve multiple competitive performances simultaneously; In particular, they illustrate how a high flexible process capability greatly enlarges the feasible zone and reduces the constrained zone in the product-process matrix. In many companies information technology (IT) and other technologies comprise Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, such as computer integrated manufacturing, flexible manufacturing systems and Enterprise Resource Planning, that directly assist humans in manufacturing firms, leading to better quality products, greater flexibility, lower costs and greater speed. This paper illustrates the important role of IT in the current manufacturing environment.
