Foregut cysts are rare congenital abnormalities, which can be subgrouped into esophageal duplication and bronchogenic cyst. We describe two patients with foregut cysts, produc-ing clinical symptoms simulating airway foreign bodies. On rigid bronchoscopic examina-tion, we found external compression of the left main bronchus. One case proved to be due toesophageal duplication after a thoracetomy excision. The other underwent surgery at another hospital and a bronchogenic cyst was found. The two cases highlight the impor-tance of listing foregut cysts in the differential diagnosis of a suspected airway foreign body.
