Eleven vertigo patients without traditional neurologic signs were assumed previously as with labyrinthine disorders, but turned out to be stroke victims after electctronystagmographic (ENG) and magnetic resonance imaging studies. From their symptoms and signs, it was concluded that if a patient has prolonged vertigo, persistent spontaneous nystagmus, unsteady gait and central signs in ENG findings, stroke should be strongly suspected as the cause of the vertigo.
