Experimental Design in Learning Motivation: A Case Study on Moodle Ctr

並列摘要

With the decline of birth rate and increasing number of colleges, universities, and technological universities established, students can easily go to university. The low-ranking schools tend to have students with low English Ievel and low motivation for learning (SLM), In order to promote students' learning motivation (SLM), ”knowing how to learn” is used as a key component in the learning process to improve learning quality under the term of ”learning to learn” (LTL) (Greany & Rodd, 2003). In other words, the acquisition of LTL and the use of ”knowing how to learn” can be reinforced by ”teaching how to learn” for quality enrichment in decision-making. This study aims to explore the role of the ”LTL theory” under a quality-based state and context dependent model. This study focuses on the importance of creating a LTL environment in order to provide students with relevant information to improve students' learning motivation as well as the teaching effectiveness. The most important principle of ”LTL-based” method is that the teacher should always remind students to browse the teacher's teaching website named Moodle, and increase their ”click through rate” (CTR). The ”LTL-based” method has been applied to the freshman students in English reading classes at Tungnan University (TNU). Following Liu (1983), students were divided into two groups-control versus study. Students in the study-group under the LTL decision of experimental processing showed statistically significant improvement over those in the control-group who were not experienced with such LTL approach. Gender differences were also observed among female students. Regression and dummy variable techniques were employed in the study.
