Hemangiomas are benign tumors of dilated blood vessels. They can be classified into cavernous, capillary, and mixed hemangioma. The lesions are clinically observed as an anemic spot, at times erythematous, or as small cluster of deep red papule. Hemangioma of tongue requires special consideration because of its susceptibility to minor trauma and the consequent bleeding and ulceration, which may lead to dysphagia, dysphonia, and airway problem. Herein we reported a case of cavernous hemangioma in a 73-year-old man with a swelling on the lateral surface of tongue. As a result, the patient underwent surgical excision under general anesthesia. The patient recovered well after the surgery and no recurrence was found. This article also reviewed literature to comprehend current diagnosis and therapeutic management for hemangioma.
