複合式過網技術在平版印刷之品質特性探討

An Investigation of Print Quality Attributes for Offset Printing Using Hybrid Screen Technologies

摘要


印刷是以半色調網點再現原稿連續階調影像,而現今在連續調轉換為半色調之技術上,以複合式過網(Hybrid Screening)技術為較優良之過網技術,因為其改善了「調幅」(Amplitude-Modulated,簡稱AM)網點在暗部及亮部無法忠實複製,以及「調頻」(Frequency-Modulated,簡稱FM)網點在中間調階調值擴增(Tone Value Increase, TVI)較大的問題,複合式網點即是在暗部及亮部使用了FM網點,中間調使用了AM網點之混合式過網技術。為驗證複合式過網技術是否能如大眾期望改善印刷品質,本研究採用實驗研究法(True Experimental Method),旨在利用複合式過網(Hybrid Screening)技術印製塗布紙於平版,運用Kodak/Creo Maxtone複合式網點建構出各3組不同之Hybrid網點組合比例(FM%-AM%-FM%),探討其疊印能力、印刷對比,並與國際印刷規格(GRACoL和GATF)做深入的比較與探討。隨著印刷科技的進步,品質成為產業競爭的後盾。希望本研究結果能提供日後學術研究單位進行相關性研究及後續研究之參考,以及提供業者作為色彩複製管理之參考依據。

Different screening techniques produce different dot structures;various dot structures perform differently on color images and tonal range. Hybrid screening was introduced to take the advantages of both AM and FM screening technologies. Because of the advantages of AM screening in midtone dot reproduction and the advantages of FM screening in the reproduction of highlights and shadows, hybrid screening uses FM-AM-FM combinations throughout highlights-midtones-shadows for better printing quality. The experiment was to evaluate the printing attributes (Print Contrast and Trapping) of hybrid screening technologies with offset printing technology on coated paper. This experiment applied hybrid screening to compare print contrast with GRACoL and trapping with GATF control guidelines. Therefore, this study designed three tint combinations of hybrid screen (FM-AM-FM) desired by Kodak/Creo Maxtone Hybrid dot to print a specially designed test form to obtain the print attributes. Finally, it is hoped that the results of the study can provide references for Taiwan's printers to improve the printing quality in lithography.
