During routine dental treatments, accidental swallowing of instruments is rare. However, sometimes the patient suddenly sneezes or has a strong gag reflex could cause this accident. As a result, the dentists have to be familiar with how to manage and prevent the patient from further injuries. Here, we present two cases of accidental swallowing in dental practice. The first one is a 85 year-old male patient accidentally swallowed the K-file during endodontic treatment. After the accident, we arranged serial radiographic examination to follow his condition. On the third day, the K-file pass through the gastrointestinal tract asymptomatically and atraumatically. The second one is a female patient swallowed the artificial crown/bridge over implant abutment. After that, we arranged radiographic examination for her and kept following her condition. Three days after accidental swallowing, the crown was discharged, and no other complications were noted. We summarized the possible reasons, clinical management and prevention procedures while this accident happening.
