軟性顯示器之現況與展望

Flexible Displays: Current Status and Perspective

摘要


顯示科技是國內”兩兆雙星”產業之一大主軸,為協助本土顯示產業持續邁向另一兆之高峰,行政院宣布將軟性顯示器列為優先推動計畫,並將逐年投入經費研發軟性技術。軟性顯示器具有輕薄、易攜帶及省電之優點,其低成本、低耗能的簡化製程符合環保訴求,同時可撓曲、耐衝擊的特性,更有助於將顯示器介面整合融入更多的應用方向,以豐富未來行動生活與數位生活的內涵。依市場應用特性,可將軟性顯示技術區分為新興應用與取代型應用,前者的訴求是以新技術創造全新的市場,後者則是強調可取代現有TFT LCD技術的全彩軟性顯示技術。目前國際上投入軟性顯示技術之研發,以美、歐、日之腳步最為積極,且今年初已有數家廠商相繼宣布將設置生產線,進行軟性顯示器之量產。工研院顯示中心自95年元月成立,其主要任務即在整合院內相關資源,以產品應用導向來投入軟性顯示器研發,期能扮演開路先鋒角色,在短時間內協助國內廠商追上歐美研發腳步,並建立相關材料、設備、製程與系統整合技術的產業化與本土化,再創國內影像顯示產業的另一高峰。

Flat Panel Display has become one leading industry due to the push of the National ”Two Trillion, two star” project. To further facilitate TAIWAN FPD revenue stepping forward to another trillion, the Executive Yuan has announced a precedence project and promised to invest in the research of flexible display technology. Flexible display is thin, light and energy saving, compatible with low cost and environmental friendly manufacturing process. The superior mechanical properties of flexible display enable the integration of versatile applications and enrich the content of future mobile and digital life. Flexible display consists of novel and complicated technical approaches, representing innovative and replaced existing market applications. With respect to the emerging research activities and production investments in America, Europe and Japan, the Display Technology Center of Industrial Technology Research Institute was established in 2006, in order to start a product application oriented R&D for flexible display. Focusing on the integration of material, equipment, process and system technologies, as well as continuing a close interaction with academics and industries, the Display Technology Center aims to pioneer local display industry into another glorious peak.
