The Preventing Behavior of Taiwan International Volunteers toward Travel Related Infectious: A Health Belife Model Perspective

International volunteers usually provide services to the less-developed areas, and thus exposed to a risk of diseases infections in such low levels of hygiene environment. This research explored into the prevention behavior toward infectious diseases of Taiwan international volunteers. Based on the health belief model, this research comprehensively reviewed literature, and hypothesized the relationships among preventive behavior, action cues, and demographic factors. This study purposively collected 315 valid responses from youth organizations, and then analyzed the data with SPSS12, including item analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, crosstabs, Pearson correlation coefficient and linear regression analysis. The test results indicated that some variables varied along with demographic factors, most significant action cues were mass media and friends, variables of health belief were significantly correlated, and susceptibility, severity, and perceived barrier had significant impacts on the respondent's prevention behavior. This research concluded that fear-based behavior changing approachwould be a valid method in buildingpreventive behavior.
