摘要

幅員和邊界是政區的基本要素。城市型政區作為一種新型的政區類型，肇始於民國時期，是從原地域型政區中切塊設置而來。在設市之初，並沒有現成的法律、法規加以規範，因此市的範圍到底應該劃多大就成為新設之市府與原地域型政區（即其劃離之母體）之間首先需要解決的問題。通過考察南京特別市行政區域邊界的劃定過程，展示了城市型政區幅員劃定過程中的各種衝突以及在中國近代市制完善過程中所起的作用。

The area and the boundary are the two basic factors of political division. The brand-new city-type political division which initiated in the Republican Period was originated from the former regional-type division. At the very beginning, where were no existing laws to regulate the setting up of cities. Therefore, the exact area of the city remained the primary problem to be solved between the newly established city and its original regional political division. The research on the process of administrative demarcation of Nanking City in particular revealed the variety of conflicts appeared during the demarcation of city-type political division and its impact on the completion of city system in Modern China.
