釋聖嚴體育觀點之探討

摘要

本文研究目的在於探討釋聖嚴（1930－2009）思想中，對體育運動的觀點與態度，以作為未來系統性研究的基礎。採用詮釋學方法，企圖描繪出聖嚴思想中的體育觀點與應用方向。討論過程如下：首先，本文從理論背景中呈現出原始佛教思想裡的「出世思想」，以及對身體的存有保持著負面態度，並提及佛教思想演變至今，已轉向肯定身體的存有與其入世意義，而逐漸轉為正面態度。接著，本文以聖嚴思想做為對象，探討其對「身體」所採取的態度與觀點，發現聖嚴在態度上傾向正面的肯定立場；接著，則依循此立場，對聖嚴的體育思想進行理解，主要從四個面向進行討論，包括：競技／競賽的意義、自我覺察的意義、調適情緒的意義、自我完成的意義。而後，則進一步檢視聖嚴對體育活動的主張，包括：體育活動之原則、輔助禪修的意義、保養身體的目的。文末，以一統整論述作為本文結論，並標示後續研究者可資深入的方向。

This article aimed to explore the physical opinions and attitude in Shen Yen's (1930~2009) thinking, which would be considered as the fundament of systematic study in the future. Textualism method was adopted to trace out the opinions of physics and direction of application in Shen Yen's thinking. The discussion process was as follows: first, in the theoretical background, the birth thought of the original Buddhism thought was presented, as well as the negative attitude towards body and its converting to be positive towards body's exist and the meaning of born with the evolution of Buddhism thoughts in current days; then, Shen Yen's thinking was taken as the object to explore his opinions and attitude towards body, and found he tends to positive affirmation; and next, understood Shen Yen's physical thinking according to this standpoint, and discussed in four directions, including: the meaning of competition, the meaning of self-awareness, the meaning of adjusting one's emotion and the meaning of self-realization; lastly, further inspect Shen Yen's proposition of physics, including: the principles of physics, the meaning of auxiliary meditation and the aim of maintaining body. At the end of the article, an overall argument was used as a closing which can enlighten future researchers of the direction for further studies.
