It is known that the designs and maintenances of infrastructures have a significant impact on the nation's activities and economy. Taiwan is an island with severely corrosive environments, and the cost of corrosion and corrosion prevention of metals and reinforcing steel structures are considerable. In this paper, current conditions of corrosion and cathodic protection occurred and/or applied for infrastructures including harbor facilities, bridges, and underground pipelines in Taiwan were introduced. Through the paper, it is highly expected that the concepts and applications of corrosion prevention for designs and maintenances of infrastructures can be paid much attention by the nation. Moreover, guidelines or recommended practices of corrosion prevention can be developed and accomplished in Taiwan.
