The study ha investigated tenth-graded students in senior high schools having what kinds of misconceptions after reading chemistry textbook. Five tenth-graded students in Kaohsiung public senior high schools were chosen as research subjects. The chapter of Le Chatelier’s Principle in the textbook was chosen for subjects’ reading material. The data were collected by methods of interview and analyzed by qualitative method. The results showed that there were several misconceptions which students had after reading textbook. One was that the rate increased in the direction of equilibrium position that shifted to and the rate decreased in the opposite direction when concentration of substances in the reaction changed at equilibrium. Others’ misconceptions were that temperature was directed involved into the reaction ad the rates of reactions on the both sides of the equation were the same when pressure or temperature changed. The major reason which caused the misconceptions was that students were unable to understand the abstract concepts of molecular would fully, so they used their prior-experience to materialized the concepts incorrectly.
