摘要

以往研究台灣廠商動態之文獻，對廠商進入與退出之關係、廠商進出產業對產業生產力之影響等研究皆已趨完備。但在較為全面探討廠商動態的議題上，例如同時探討廠商進入模式、廠商能力與廠商退出模式之間的關係，以及產業特性對廠商的影響等研究，目前只見於理論性的文章而尚無實證性的文章。因此，本文之目的便是以產業成長迅速及廠商進出頻繁的電子產業為代表，對台灣廠商動態進行實證研究，以使對台灣廠商動態之實證研究能更趨完備。
本文使用行政院主計處調查之工商及服務業普查資料，並選取75至85年期間的資料來對台灣電子產業的廠商動態進行實證研究。以Plehn-Dujowich (2009) 的理論為基礎，進行其對廠商動態議題所提出的七個典型化事實來做實證研究。為方便探討，本文便將此七個典型化事實分為四類議題，分別為廠商進入模式與廠商能力、廠商進入模式與退出模式、廠商能力與廠商退出、以及市場需求與廠商退出議題。使用OLS、Probit和Multinomial logit模型來設立實證模型。實證結果為廠商的進入模式、廠商能力與市場需求皆會影響廠商對退出模式的選擇。此外，廠商進入模式也會影響廠商能力。而廠商能力與市場需求除了會影響廠商的退出模式外，也會影響廠商留存產業與否。

A great number of existing researches on firm dynamics have focused either on the relationship between entry and exit or on how firms’ entry and exit affect industry productivity. However, a complete study of the whole firm dynamics is absent. In view of this, based on a recent theoretical paper developed by Plehn-Dujowich (2009), this thesis extends to accomplish empirical work of complete firm dynamics. We integrate issues about the relation between firm entry modes, firm skill and firm exit modes as well as the effect of the industry characteristics to firm dynamics into our study.
To clarify empirical issues, we classified seven stylized facts by Plehn-Dujowich (2009) to four subjects: firm entry modes and firm skill, firm entry modes and firm exit modes, firm skill and firm exit, and market demand and firm exit. Taiwanese cense data are utilized to investigate the firm dynamics among electronics industry in Taiwan during 1986 to 1996. We use OLS, Probit and Multinomial logit model to set empirical models. Empirical results exhibit that firm entry modes, firm skill and market demand affect firm exit modes. Moreover, firm entry modes affect firm skill. Furthermore, firm skill and market demand also affect the firms’ decision of stay in the industry or not.
