Aminocyclitols can mimic oligosaccharides to make them as glycosidases inhibitors. Glycosidse inhibitors posses therapeutic potential in the treatment of a variety of carbohydrate-mediated diseases and cancers. We described herein an alternative synthesis of two known aminocyclitols and two new aminocyclitols. Each synthesis was accomplished in eight steps via a regioselective ring opening reaction of epoxides. On the other hand, many bisinbolymaleimide compounds, like Arcyriaflavin A, have been reported as inhibitors of protein kinase C. This family of isoenzymes is believed to control growth and proliferation of a wide range of cancer cell. The most effecient synthesis of Arcyriaflavin A has been reported by reaction of indolymagnesium bromide with N-protected dibromomaleimide. We wish to report a more convenient method by using Diels-Alder method.
