Most of recent research indicates that the Internet has been accelerating the realization of democracy and enhancing the participation of political community. However, there are still many scholars concerned about the potential pitfalls of digital democracy. The main purpose of this article is to explore the important issues of digital democracy, especially the strengths and weaknesses of electronic voting. In this paper, the advantages and disadvantages of digital democracy are discussed systematically according to recent surveys and empirical case studies. In addition, the challenge and the adaptation of electronic voting in the future will be analyzed.
