Natural Infection of Mosquitoes with Dirofilaria immitis in Northern Taiwan

台灣北部天然感染犬心絲蟲之蚊蟲

摘要


本研究自1993年4月至1995年12月止,在台北市北投區泉源里、國立陽明大學動物中心、苗栗市及新竹市,共採集3,252隻熱帶家蚊、17隻三斑家蚊、75隻白線斑紋、116隻白腹叢蚊及2隻中華瘧蚊。將蚊子帶回本校昆蟲室,用5%糖水飼養14-20天後,用冰凍麻醉,在解剖顯微鏡下解剖檢查,犬心絲蟲自然感染率熱帶家蚊4.3%、白線斑紋1.3%。三斑家蚊、白腹叢蚊及中華瘧蚊均為陰性結果。熱帶家蚊及白線斑紋之感染度分別為2.1及3.0。熱帶家蚊檢獲第三期幼蟲290隻。在一隻白線斑紋檢獲2隻第二期黑化幼蟲及一隻第三期幼蟲。感染率在6月最高(11 %),1月最低(0.9%)。幼蟲平均檢獲率4月最高(3.7),8月最低(1.4)。犬心絲蟲之幼蟲在1隻熱帶家蚊檢獲之數目1-12隻,惟在大部份蚊體內只檢獲一隻幼蟲(77/ 139)。研究結果顯示熱帶家蚊在台灣北部為傳播犬心絲蟲之主要媒介。

From April 1993 to December 1995, 3,252 Culex quinquefasciatus, 17 Cx. tritaeniorhynchus, 75 Aedes albopictus, 116 Armigeres subalbatus, 2 Anopheles sinensis were collected from Tsuan-yuan Li, Pei-tou area, the Animal Center of National Yangming University, Taipei City, Miao-Ii city, and Hsin-chu city. These mosquitoes were kept in the insectory and reared with 5% sugar water for 14-20 days before ice anesthetization, dissection, and examination under dissecting microscope for the natural infection with larvae of Dirofilaria immitis. The prevalence of D. immitis in Cx. quinquefasciatus and Ae. albopictus were 4.3% and 1.3% , respectively. No natural infection was found in Cx. tritaeniorhynchus, Ar. subalbatus, and Anopheles sinensis. The intensity of D. immitis larvae in Cx. quinquefasciatus and Ae. albopictus were 2.1 and 3.0, respectively. AII 290 D. immitis larvae collected from Cx. quinquefasciatus were in the third stage and two melanized second stage larvae and one third stage larva were found in a mosquito of Ae. albopictus. The infection rate was highest in June (11.0%) and lowest in January 0.9% and the mean number of larvae collected was highest in April (3.7) and lowest in August (1.4). The number of D. immitis larvae collected from Cx. quinquefasciatus ranged from 1 to 12 and most (77/139) of the mosquitoes harbored only one larva. From the results of this study, Cx. quinquefasciatus is the most important vector of D. immitis in northern Taiwan.
