利用xx指數比較台灣醫學中心間的學術成就

Using xx-index to compare the academic achievements among medical centers in Taiwan

摘要

許多機構利用所屬學者的論文被引用數及期刊影響點數決定其學術成就，都只限定論文係第一或是通訊作者。忽略其他共同作者的貢獻，且假設第一及通訊作者的貢獻相等。本研究於Pubmed醫學期刊資料庫下載2016至2018年台灣醫學中心的論文，計19,980篇，其中醫學中心為第一或通訊作者計16,210（81.13%）篇。利用傳統第一及通訊作者的期刊影響點數方法，再量化其論文被引用量及影響點數的貢獻，發展一具xx指數，視覺化醫學中心間的學術成就評比。研究發現：（1）林口長庚的學術成就最高，其次為台大附醫及台北榮總、（2）醫學院附設醫院與非醫學院附設醫院間，於論文篇數上，皆未呈統計顯著性差異、及（3）醫學中心的縣市別學術成就最高者分別為台北市、桃園縣、及高雄市。本研究呈現醫學中心間學術成就在同儕間的比較，示範一具可行的學術成就計算，以供未來評量醫療機構或是研究人員的學術成就之參考。

Many institutes use article citations and journal impacts for assessing their academic achievements(AAs), but merely based on the criteria of first(or corresponding) authors and regardless of other authors' contributions to an article byline. We downloaded article abstracts in Pubmed Central from 2016 to 2018 after searching keywords affiliated to Taiwan medical centers. A total of 19,980 abstracts were collected and 16,210(81.13%) were authored by either first or corresponding to the authorship. Using both the traditional method based on first and corresponding authors and an author-weighted scheme of quantifying author contributions to articles, we developed an xx-index to visualize AAs for medical centers. The findings were observed: (1)the top three with most highly AAs are Chang Gung Memorial Hospital(Linkou), Taiwan University Hospital, and Taipei Veterans General Hospital; (2) no difference was found in article counts between hospitals affiliated with medical schools and the none-with; (3)the top three ranked in AAs based on city categories are Taipei, Taoyuan, and Kaohsiung. We demonstrated one way in comparing peer AAs for medical centers and provided an evaluation approach to institutes and scholar researches used in the discernable future.
