台灣網際網路電子佈告欄系統（BBS）的發展與使用特徵之研究－以宜蘭農工專科學校BBS站為例

A Study on the Development and Usage of Internet BBS in Taiwan-A Case Study on NIIAT BBS Station

摘要

電子佈告欄系統（BBS）的發展帶來了人際之間互動的新媒介，提供使用者更廣泛的資訊交流、人際關係建立的管道。本研究在探討台灣地區網際網路中BBS站在數量上的發展與區域間分布的特徵，並以宜蘭農工專科學校BBS站為對象以監督紀錄方式調查使用時間及各佈告欄的使用，另以問卷調查BBS的使用行為，調查對象為五專低年級學生中具BBS使用經驗的同學，調查時間為1998年3月。（宜蘭農工專科學校於1998年7月改制為宜蘭技術學院）臺灣地區的Internet BBS的數量在1998年3月調查為1048站，以大專院校中的設站最為多計有824站佔80%，近年政府推動網際網路的使用使得中等學校國中小學的使用人口開始增加BBS的站數也在增加中。BBS站在空間的分布特徵是北部多於南部，都市多於鄉村，以台北都會地區為主要集中地，由Possion Regression Model得知BBS站數與大專院校的數目有顯著的正相關。在宜蘭農工專科學校BBS的使用行為與特徵中，佈告欄的使用以「校園類」及「閒聊類」佈告欄最為活躍，反映出BBS對「監督環境」及「自我肯定」的需求與「消遣」的功能。BBS站的使用時間分布以中午及傍晚為尖峰時段，在週六下午及週日使用人數均明顯減少。BBS初階使用者問卷調查中發現1.BBS的使用率不高，平均每週使用的次數為0-1次者為最多。2.BBS的使用地點，大部份的同學經常在電算中心上網（36%），最大的阻礙是電腦太少不夠使用。3.BBS功能使用，以佈告欄的使用率（54%）最高，聊天功能（41%）次之、郵件功能（16%）較少利用。4.使用BBS的收穫，依次為休閒娛樂（54%）、訊息獲得（50%）、交友社交（43%）、知識解惑（36%）。

The Internet BBS was first introduced in Taiwan in 1992, the first station located at National Sun Yat-Sen University. The number has blossomed to 1048 as of March 1998. Almost 80% of the stations are located in universities and colleges, but the number of junior schools has grown rapidly in the last two years. Geographically speaking, Internet BBS stations are clustered on the urban area. The number is also correlated with the number of colleges and universities. A case study on the use characteristics on the Ilan A&T BBS station shows that the most actively surfed boards are of the ”campus” and 'emotional' types. Evenings and afternoons are peak hours. Student use frequency is not high, mostly lower than once a week. Most students use computer center facility to login to BBS. Benefits from using BBS are entertainment, environment monitoring, and improvement of social relation.
