Effective October 1,2010, Fédération Internationale de Basketball Amateur (FIBA) modified the rule for 3-point shots by moving the 3-point line from 6.25m to 6.75m. To find out the impact of the new rule on 3-point shooting performance of the Super Basketball League (SBL), an analysis was conducted based on the data collected in the 210 regular-season games played by the 7 SBL teams during the 2010 (seventh) and 2010-2011 (eighth) seasons. As a result, a significant drop was observed in all major indices related to 3-point field goals - the average shot attempts per game, the average field goals made per game, and the average shooting percentage. Even though the actual numbers may vary by teams, the impact of this rule change is clear. Therefore, it is recommended that teams should develop new drills and strategies for the future in response to this rule modification.
