Abstract The purpose of this study is to explore the current situation of under-graduate students’ well-being, different background variables effecting, and relationships among five aspects (course conditions, life satisfaction, self-affirmation, interpersonal relations, physical and mental health) of well-being. Subjects were stratified random sampling of 2348 under-graduate students from 54 public and private universities of 98 school year in Taiwan. The valid samples were 2285 students. The scale of under-graduate students’ well-being was used. All data collected were analyzed by the methods of descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation. The major findings are as follows: 1. The under-graduate students scored over average on well-being. The highest scores fell in “interpersonal relations”; the lowest scores were in “physical and mental health”. 2. Males had higher well-being than females. 3. The higher grade students were in, the higher well-being they had. 4. There were significant differences in different colleges. 5. Students in public universities had higher well-being than students in private universities. 6. There were significant differences in different types of universities. 7. Students in the east had higher well-being than students in the north, middle and south of Taiwan. 8. There were high positive correlations among five aspects (course conditions, life satisfaction, self-affirmation, interpersonal relations, physical and mental health) of well-being. Finally, according to the findings above, suggestions are given to the educational administrations, universities and future research.
