在台外籍學生檢索圖書館線上公用目錄問題之研究－以國立臺灣師範大學為例

A Study on Foreign Students Retrieval Web-based Online Public Access Catalog Using：the case example of National Taiwan Normal University

摘要

近年來外籍學生不斷地逐年增加，引發相當多值得探討的議題。而圖書館線上公用目錄設計最終目的就是為了要滿足使用者的需求，雖然外籍學生是圖書館服務對象中的少數族群，但是仍應瞭解其需求，以提供更符合外籍學生需要的服務。
本研究採用質性研究方法，探討外籍學生使用圖書館線上公用目錄時所遭遇的問題及對系統的建議。本研究以十三位具有正式學籍之外籍學生為研究對象，以訪談法與觀察法蒐集研究資料。研究結果發現，外籍學生與一般學生使用WebPAC遭遇的問題大致相同，但是影響外籍學生最主要的問題是來自「語言能力」、「檢索技巧」和「系統設計」上的問題。因此，將本研究建議羅列如下：
一、對於WebPAC查詢系統之建議
（一）WebPAC英文查詢介面之全英文化
（二）提供中、英文線上輔助說明
（三）針對檢索結果之檢索詞加強標示
（四）重新設計檢索畫面（簡化檢索點選項）
（五）考量增加檢索功能（如：Fuzzy Search）
（六）搜尋引擎網站服務功能（如：Google）之省思
二、對圖書館讀者服務之建議
（一）瞭解外籍學生的需求
（二）圖書館應主動對外籍學生安排圖書館利用教育課程
（三）館員之英文程度之提升
（四）充實館藏深度及廣度
（五）圖書館提供更改輸入法對應的說明
（六）編目工作的改變及因應
綜上所述，期望研究結果有助於圖書館日後規劃WebPAC系統設計以及對外籍學生讀者服務之參考。

In recent year, there are more issues that has been needed to research due to foreign students has been increased. The final purpose of designing of Public categories on line in the library is to satisfy the requirements of the users, even though the foreign students are the minority of the user in the library, however, we have to understand their requirements in order to provide service for them to meet
their needs.
This study is taking the method of quality research, to find out the problems and their proposal regarding the system when they are using the on-line public category. We focus on 13 foreign students who have registered by means of
interview and observation to collect information for this study. The final results are the problems is mostly the same as regular students when they are using WebPAC,
however, the major issue of the foreign students have com out with capability of language, skill of search, and designation of the system. In this concern, we have
following recommendations:
1. WebPAC search system
1). English search interface has to show all English.
2). Providing auxiliary description of Chinese and English on-line.
3). Clear remark of search wording in the search result.
4). Redesign the search frame (Make it simple on the select items).
5). Increasing more search functions (ex. Fuzzy Search).
6). Review the functions of search engine website service (ex. Google).
2. Service for the users
1). Find out the requirements of the foreign students.
2). Library should actively education course of how to use library for the foreign
students.
3). Upgrading the English capability of the employee of the Library.
4). Expanding the width and depth of the collections in the library.
5). Providing comparative description of how to change the way of input.
6). Innovation of classification.
Hopefully, above all recommendations would be able to promote the designation of WebPAC system and more service for the foreign students.
