原住民族知識在科學教育中的應用:以新美國小科展案例分析為例

摘要


本論文探討原住民族知識與現代西方自然科學的對話,係以質化實踐取向的研究方式,分析鄒族知識的再生產。以阿里山新美國小2003-2014年科學教育活動為研究對象,觀察鄒族傳統知識如何在現代教育場域再生產。本研究除分析新美國小歷年科學教育的文獻資料,也實地觀察正在進行的科學教育活動,本研究認為民族科學與現代西方自然科學屬性有其差異特質,所以傳統生活科學知識要與現代科學知識接軌,必然要經過諸多轉換與設計的過程,本論文認為新美國小所做的科學教育,鄒族知識再生產可歸納為四種類型,即巔覆傳統型、驗證傳統型、逸出傳統型、驗證傳統及蔓衍型等,每種類型即代表民族知識與現代科學之間的對話與辨證。本研究亦認為,鄒族知識的再生產衍生許多新的知識內涵和社會文化意義,當然從實踐取向的觀點也發現諸多鄒族知識再生產的困境與限制。

In this study, the dialogue between indigenous knowledge and Western science was explored. Through the qualitative oriented research method, the reproduction of Tsou knowledge was analyzed. Using the science education activities of Shinmei Elementary School, Alishan from 2003-2014 as research participants, how the traditional knowledge of the Tsou Tribe engages in reproduction in the modern educational field was observed. In addition to the analysis of Shinmei Elementary School’s science education literatures over the past years, field observation of the ongoing science education activities was also carried out. This study deems national science and natural science to be different in terms of attributes. Therefore, various transformation and design processes are involved in order to connect traditional life science knowledge and modern science knowledge. This paper found that Shinmei Elementary School’s science education and Tsou knowledge reproduction can be divided into four types: subverting traditions, verifying traditions, escaping traditions, and verifying traditions and spread stereotype. Each of the types represents the dialogue and dialectic of national knowledge and modern science. This study also considers Tsou knowledge reproduction gives to numerous new knowledge connotations and social and cultural significance. Of course, from the viewpoint of implementation orientation, plights and limitations arising from Tsou knowledge reproduction were also found.
