“Cars” is an animation movie directed by the Creative Director of Pixar, John Lasseter, who used personification approach to create cars into interesting and humorous characters. This study adopts the perspective of semiology to discuss how semiosis of appearances and color symbols reveals the inner traits of the characters. The analysis finds that the appearances and color images have been endowed with more diverse meanings through transformation by the director, so that these symbolic images can strengthen the inner traits of characters and indirectly display the cultural background of the director when he created these characters.
