The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in response to failure among athletes of varying background in Taiwan and to predict how the diverse backgrounds of the athletes on the delegations will affect their responses to failure. Participants (n=455) completed a questionnaire designed to assess their responses to failure and collect some information about their demographics (age, gender). The hypotheses were tested using factor analysis, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and Scheffe Post Hoc Comparisons. Findings were discussed, along with the study's practical implications and directions for future research. The study's conclusions were as follows: a. male athletes responses to failure were m ore constructive than females. b. the older the athletes were, the more likely their responses were to be constructive. Based on the results of the study, the following suggestions were proposed for PE instructors, sports coaches, and athletic delegations of universities.
