「Camera Mouse」在 2007 年由美國波士頓大學所研發,是以數位攝影機追蹤臉部特徵,用來替代傳統滑鼠,讓受限特殊因素無法操作傳統滑鼠的使用者也能夠使用電腦。唯一般使用者利用臉(頭)部運動控制游標,其穩定度遠不如手部作業,因此目前常見的電腦系統操的介面型態,未必適合「Camera Mouse」。 本研究透過實驗分析,探索目前的操作問題與合適的介面形式,實驗分三個階段,共邀請 105 位測試者。實驗一是觀察受測者以「Camera Mouse」操作一般的Windows 應用軟體,紀錄操作過程中所發生的問題與圖示按鍵尺寸是影響操作績效的重要影響因素;在實驗二中,設計了八種不同圖示按鍵的互動遊戲,結果發現受測者面對較小尺寸的按鍵時,操作績效明顯不佳,在25x25 mm以上的按鍵,才有穩定的績效;實驗三則是依實驗一的操作程序與游標軌跡,設計了不同尺寸的圖示按鍵,證實受測者對25x25 mm以上的按鍵確實有較佳的穩定度,且操作績效大幅改善,接近使用傳統滑鼠者。 考慮電腦顯示螢幕的有效利用與穩定的操作績效,本研究建議:若以「Camera Mouse」操作電腦系統,圖示按鍵尺寸為25x25 mm是最理想的介面型態。
"Camera Mouse" which uses a digital camera to track a person’s facial feature was developed by Boston University in 2007 as an alternative for people who cannot operate a traditional mouse due to some particular reasons. However, for people who do not have problems using a mouse, using their hands to control the computer cursor is still significantly easier than facial movements (or head) .Therefore, “camera mouse” is not suitable to use in most computer operating systems because of the style of its interface. The purpose of the current study is to find troubles experienced by people when they operate a camera mouse and to suggest a proper interface style to solve the problem. One hundred and five testers were selected for the experiment and each of them went through the three-staged experiment. In the first stage of the experiment, testers were told to operate some common windows applications by using camera mouse as an interface, the troubles they encountered were recorded, it was found that size of icons on the screen was an important factor affecting the performance of the operation. In the second stage, interactive games with eight different icon sizes were used in the test, it was observed that the testers’ performance were significantly poor when dealing with games with small icons, better performances were observed when size of icons were equal to or larger than 25x25 mm. In the third stage, an application was developed to mimic one of the windows applications used in the first stage but with several different icon sizes for the purpose of looking into the influence of icon size on user’s performance. It was concluded that testers would have better and stable performances, as good as a person using a common mouse, if icon size is at least 25x25 mm. Consider the effective use of computer screen and stable operating performance, this study suggests that when a "Camera Mouse" is used as a computer interface, the icon dimension of 25x25 mm is the ideal size.
