臺灣安寧療護中宗教師的服務內容以及面臨的困境與所需其備的人格特質－以佛教宗教師爲例

摘要

癌症在臺灣已連續27年高居國人十大死因首位，而從國內外的研究顯示，宗教師介入安寧療護之靈性照護，有助於提高癌症病患之善終指數。本研究以深入訪談佛教宗教師，進行資料蒐集。經分析歸納後，可知宗教師的工作內容分爲五大項，而從其實務經驗中發現，目前宗教師所面臨的四大困境：大眾對宗教師的模糊認知、信仰的差異與行政合作的困難、人員養成不易、服務與修行的兩難。要成爲一位專業的宗教師，除了本身的熱忱，更須具備：心性的穩定度、對問題的敏感度與生命的內在經驗、尊重病患信仰、有組織能力等特質。最後就結論，針對「宗教師的可取代性」與「培訓與全程陪伴的重要性」進行討論，且對目前社會與醫療體制之現況、後續研究提出建議。

”Cancer” has been the number one cause of death in the past 27 years. It is found that chaplain's care enhanced the good death index of terminal cancer patients. The most helpful of chaplain's care is a way of spiritual care for hospice care. The topics for predicaments of chaplain's care and what characteristics the chaplains for spiritual care should have are very important. This study employs semi-structured interview for a Buddhist chaplain and the training institution. ”People are unclear about chaplain's role”, ”different belief from patients and problems for cooperation”, ”challenging to train a professional for chaplain's care” and ”the struggle between service and practice” are the four predicaments facing chaplain's care found in this research. In addition to enthusiasm, the characteristics a professional chaplain for chaplain's care should have are ”stable personality”, ”sensitive to patients' problems”, ”respecting patients' belief’ and ”organizational capacity”. This paper also discusses about the possible substitution for chaplain of the spiritual care and the importance of training chaplains to accompany terminal patients during the entire process.
