Stigma has an enormous impact on social adaptation among the people with disabilities and confronting stigma plays a vital role. The purpose of this experimental study is to compare the effect between contact method and traditional education on coping with public stigma and to explore the starting time of these interventions through the indicator of social distance. The result indicates that the contact method has a significant effect on improving social distance and is better than the traditional education method. Besides, the better effect is found among the students with lower grade of elementary School. Early intervention for confronting stigma is recommended.
