英國DV8肢體劇場《阿基里斯進場》中的男性形象分析

The Analysis of Male Image in the DV8 Physical Theatre's "Enter Achilles"

摘要


本研究分析英國DV8肢體劇場1995年的作品《阿基里斯進場》(Enter Achilles)中的男性形象,此作品透過生活化的舞蹈動作語彙與戲劇性的故事內容,描述在一英國酒吧內九名男子間的互動關係。本文透過符號學理論和語藝批評(rhetorical criticism)理論中階層與代罪羔羊的槪念運用,探討作者洛伊紐森(Lloyd Newson)如何經由具符號意義的物件使用與劇情編排,進而重新探討男子氣槪的真義。研究發現此作品依循兩條主軸解構傳統男性形象,一是揭露男子氣槪的弱點,將之瓦解幻滅,二是提高非典型男子氣槪的地位,如此不僅批判傳統男子氣槪,也對兩性對立的性別刻板印象提出質疑。此外,劇中男性氣槪特質與非傳統男性特質代表人物間產生的對立排擠關係,映證了柏克(Burke, 1945)語藝批評理論中的階層與代罪羔羊槪念,尋找並譴責代罪羔羊以達到傳統男性形象階層頂端。

This paper will analyze the male image in DV8's 《Enter Achilles》 in which dance movement and dramatic plot are used to present the interaction of 9 men in a pub. Choreographer Lloyd Newson challenges and satirizes the male stereotypes. The theory of semilogy and dramatic-pentad will be applied to analyze how the properties and plot are designed to present the masculinity in this work. This paper discover that the work disconstruct the traditional male image in accordance with following two main shafts, first, reveal the weakness of masculinity, disintegrate it and vanish into thin air, second, improve the position of non- typical masculinity. Not only criticize traditional masculinity like this, but also the gender sterotype queries. In addition, the antithesis that is produced among male spirit speciality and non-traditional male speciality representative figure in plot, reflect in the hierarchy in the rhetorical criticism theory, condemn others in order to reach the traditional top of male image hierarchy.
