A female larva of Setaria digitata was found in the cerebral aqueduct of a paraIyzed and epileptic goat in Taitung, eastern Taiwan. This is the first confirmed case of cerebrospinal setariosis in goat in Taiwan. Neutrophils were observed in the spinal fluid smears and no aerobic nor anaerobic bacteria were isolated from the central nervous system. Serum creatine phosphokinase (CK) of the goat at necropsy was more than eight hundred-fold of the normal value. The CK isoenzyme consisted of 100% of the MM type and none of the BB type.
