The vegetation surveys were conducted from Kao-Ping Estuary to Bao-Lee Estuary. The coastline covers more than 50 kilometers. A total of 69 rectangular plots (20m×50m) were sampled, and 329 species belonging to 84 families were recorded. The higher level of the classification hierarchy is delimited by the physiognomy, and then followed the treatment of the U. S. National Vegetation Classification (USNVC) System. The lower two levels of the hierarchy, alliance and association, were based on floristic composition according to the concept of diagnostic species and floristic-sociological classification of the Braun-Blanquet approach. The resultant system consists of 4 classes, 5 formations, 10 alliances, and 13 associations.
