紐約大都會博物館仿建中國蘇州古典園林得到許多論美,本文試圖探討:中國傳統建築的外在格局與形成是一定內在哲學精神的反映,僅且備外在形式的模仿有時反而會遺漏了中國建築的真正本質。中國以儒家與道家對人事、自然的看法爲基楚,術發出兩大建築系統,儒家影響下建築在架橫人一人之間的秩序,強調族群的合適與踩延;道家影響下的建築則努力把人從人間秩序中解放出來,放回到自然之中,這一類亭園建築因此充滿個人面對自然的驚訝與喜悅。
