測試多媒體病人教育方案提昇門診患者的高壓氧知識

Evaluating a Multimedia Education Program to Improve the Knowledge of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy among Outpatients

摘要


高壓氧治療是臨床上一項有效、但過程複雜的治療,近年越廣為使用於各疾病。為使治療有效而安全的進行,因此需執行病人教育讓治療的患者對該特殊治療有更多的認識。病人教育方式途徑之中,多媒體科技提供一個新的管道供醫護人員傳遞必要的資訊給患者,唯多媒體應用在高壓氧治療提升患者的認知之成效卻較少探討。本研究將介紹護理人員自行研發「多媒體高壓氧病人教育方案」的過程,並評估該方案在提升患者知識的成效。採單組前後測設計,研究對象為32位北部某區域教學醫院高壓氧治療中心的病患,「多媒體高壓氧病人教育方案」的開發,以容易取得的多媒體軟硬體設備製作影片,提供研究對象治療前觀看,結果顯示研究對象的高壓氧治療知識有顯著提升,介入前為12.31±4.25分,介入之後為15.00±2.24分(t=-3.6,p=0.001)。多媒體學習方式可視為增加病患高壓氧治療的認知的有效方法,有機會解決資源限縮下健康照護服務不足的困難,但未來仍需更多的研究,以了解多媒體輔助高壓氧治療流程具有哪些臨床效果。

Delivering patient education to those who are willing to receive hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is an essential task to outpatient services, facilitating the complex procedure of HBOT which accompanies side effects and risks. Multimedia technology has given healthcare providers a new method of delivering educational information to patients. Previous literature has shown the benefits of using multimedia on patient education, but the attempt to enhance patients' knowledge of HBOT has not been widely studied. This study shows the development of a multimedia education program of HBOT and the evaluation of its effect on knowledge. Thirty two outpatients enrolled as the study subject from a tertiary hospital in the north of Taiwan. The subjects received a pre-post test and an intervention of multimedia HBOT. The program was built with an easy-access software and device. Analytic results shows that the level of HBOT knowledge (pre-test mean=12.31, SD=4.25) significantly increased (post-test mean=15.00, SD=2.24, t=-3.6, p=0.001). The multimedia learning method may serve as an effective intervention on enhancing patients' knowledge on HBOT treatment and overcoming barriers of getting access to healthcare service under limited resources. Further studies are still needed to evaluate clinical effectiveness and benefits of using multimedia method in HBOT workflows.
