How Digital Technology Changes Taiwan's Education in the Next 20 Years

摘要

自1980年代中期開始，中小學校連續經歷三波數位學習的浪潮：第一波是個人電腦教室時代，第二波是線上學習時代，而第三波則是一對一互動教室時代。在本文中，我將試著解釋：為何我們目前正處於一對一互動教室時代的開端？為何一對一互動教室將造成教育的重大改變？為何這些改變在一對一互動教室時代之前無法發生？同時提出九個推測，試圖闡明台灣教室可能的改變方式。基本上，教室將從第一階段―追求個別化和效能，轉變為第二階段－追求個人化和全球公民素養。第一階段和第二階段之間的連結，同時也是網路世界和教室之間的連結，而目前網路世界和教室仍是各自分開的。數位學習應用取決於該技術的可取得性(availability)，雖然此領域的研究者無法對這點有所影響，但卻可以建立令人信服的、能夠持續推廣的實驗據點，啓動教室的改革。我也相信在這些演變過程中，我們可以揭示許多教育的基本問題，讓教育產生根本的改變，開啓教育新紀元，並為它的來臨喝采。

Technology adoption is determined by the availability of that technology, and we researchers in the field, on the other hand, have little influence over technology availability. Yet, we can build compelling, sustainable and ”disseminable” experimental ”one-to-one” interactive classroom sites to set out classroom reform. In fact, three overlapping waves of technology adoption-the personal computer lab wave, the online learning wave, and the one-to-one interactive classroom wave-our schools have been experiencing since the mid-1980s. By proposing a series of conjectures, I described with some confidence how classrooms in Taiwan may change in the next 20 years.
