Ganoderma lucidum (TAI001) and Ganoderma tsugae (TAI002) were cultivated with tree logs of Acacia confusa Merr., Ormosia formosana Kan., Castanopsis stipitata (Hay) Nakai, MachiIus zuihoensis Hay., Albizzia faIcata Backer, and Cunning-hamia lanceolata (Lamb) Hook. The results showed A. confusa Merr. and C. stipitata to be the best tree species for Ganoderma cultivation. The fruit-body production of the other tree logs was found to be in the following sequance: M. zuihoensis>A. faIcata>O. formosana>C. lanceolata. The properties of logs, including specific gravity, hardness, moisture content, water-holding capacity, lignin and cellulose contents, and the extracts by hexane, acetone and methanol, were analyzed. It was shown that the growth of Ganoderma fruit-body was mainly affected by the anti-fungus components in the extracts.
