The purpose of this project was to establish outcome indicators for chemotherapy care, in order to provide the safety of chemical medicine treatments for patients. There were two extravasation occurrences during June to October in 2003, which caused the pain in the blood vessel and redness on the skin. It not only produced the physiology and psychology injures, but also exposed the defect of medical quality and causing the nursing staff's many pressures considuring patient's chemical medication. To reduce the problem, a project was designed to correct these deficits: 1. To establish the standard nursing procedure of the chemotherapy. 2. To develop the extravasation handling procedure. 3. To set up the chemotherapy quality monitor index. After the project was implemented, no more extravasation occurred. This project has successfully established a complete set of standard nursing procedure of chemotherapy and improved the satisfaction of nurses.
