Forest fire is closely related to vegetation, climate and human activities. By analyzing the specific relationships among these three factors we are able to define and rate the high risk areas. This study used chronological data of fires in National Forests from 1963 to 1992, Vegetation types, climate zones and recreation systems were the sources of data input. PC ARC/INFO was chosen for coverages mapping and database setting up. Fire risk zones were defined and ranked to five levels. The result of this study can be served as a reference when the foresters develop their fire-prevent programs, silviclture and recreation plans.
