Scholars Jiang Sheng and Wang Ming-Sheng are representative of the Wu School during the reigns of emperors Qianlong and Jiaqing. When studying the Book of Documents they both advocate the Old Text version and follow Zheng Xuan's interpretation. However, this study finds that their works demonstrate separate concepts for compiling and interpreting Zheng's annotations and infers that the two scholars have different attitudes that influence their works. By comparing the contents, methods, and concepts of their compilations of Zheng's annotations on the Book of Documents with Collected Annotations and Pronunciation Annotations and Commentary on the Book of Documents, this study provides reference for future research on Jiang's and Wang's interpretations of the Book of Documents.
