Gingival Metastasis as the Presenting Manifestation in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

摘要

晚期的肝癌可能會轉到我們身體的任何部位。然而，遠處的口腔轉移是罕見的。我們報告一位患者最初發現的腫瘤是在齒齦區域，肝和前列腺。經過一系列的檢查後，腫瘤的原發部位仍不是很清楚。藉由組織切片，原發的腫瘤問題才確認是來自於肝癌。藉由這個案報告，我們強調在癌症的診斷及處理的過程中，組織切片檢查的重要性，特別亞洲是肝癌的好發區域。

Advanced stage hepatoma can metastasize to any part of our the body. However, it is rare that oral cavity would be the area of distant metastasis. We describe one patient initially presented with tumors over the oral gingival area, liver and prostate. After serial imaging study, the origin lesion of the tumor was still not very clear. Only by tissue biopsy, was the primary focus concluded to be originated from the liver. In this case report, we emphasize the importance of tissue biopsy in the diagnostic procedure of cancer management, especially in endemic hepatoma areas of Asia.
