Chemical Study of Clinopodium gracile

Thirteen components were isolated from the ethanol extract of the whole herb of Clinopodium gracile. Their structures were determined on the basis of spectral evidence and chemical transformations. These compounds include three steroids (β-sitosterol, △7 –stigmastenol, and △7 –stigmastenyJ-3-0-β-glucopyranoside), a mixture of fatty acids (stearic, palmitic, and myristic acids), three triterpenes (betulinic acid, oleanolic acid, and 2a-hydroxyoleanoJic acid), three flavonoids (apigenin-7-0-p-glucopyranoside, luteolin-7-0-β-glucopyranoide, and didymin), two Iignolic acids [rosmarinic acid and 3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-lactic acid], and one sugar (myo-inositol).
