Focusing on 12th graders in southern Taiwan, this study examined whether students' information literacy and attitude toward computers differ according to their background and computer experience. The study adopted a questionnaire research method with 1069 valid samples, a 70.01 percent response rate. Descriptive statistics, a t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson correlations were conducted to analyze the data. It was found that students' background and computer experience had a significant impact on their information literacy and computer attitude. Students' information literacy and computer attitude were also found to be significantly related. According to the research results, some suggestions were also made. First, students who indulge themselves in internet games should be guided in the proper fashion; secondly, students should be encouraged to develop self-directed learning; thirdly, schools should actively help female (as well as male) students learn about computers and the internet; fourthly, schools' computer facilities should be upgraded and improved; finally, the teaching in computer programs should be adjusted to fit each educational system.
