檢查七十六、七十七學年度台大所有新生(各約三千名)的眼球屈折狀態,發現近視罹患率超過百分之九十,平均度數亦達-4.2D。眼球光學組成分析顯示眼軸之增長乃近視之主要因素。
About six thousand freshmen in 1987-8 of National Taiwan University were examined with half of them for study on the distribution of the refractional status and the other half the correlation of the ocular refraction with its optical components. The myopic rate is around 93% for the domestic students, with a mean exceeding -4D. While the corneal curvature was found to play only a minor role in the determination of ocular refraction, the measurements of axial length parralled the degree of myopia.
