The purpose of this study was to investigate the weight control program for twelve weeks whether it affects health-related physical fitness in the members participating in the weight-controlling class by Miao-li Chien-Kuo elementary school. Thirty-three students (26 boys and 7 girls) were volunteers of weight-controlling class. After weight control program including exercise, food restriction, and modification of behavior for twelve weeks, the values of health-related physical fitness items (cardiorespiratory endurance: 800m walking/running, muscular strength: standing long jump, muscular endurance: one minute sit-ups, flexibility: sit and reach, body composition: Weight-for-Length Index, Body Mass Index and percentage of body fat) was tested by repeated t-test before and after the program. The result showed that after weight control program, the adipose children had significant improvement in every aspect of health-related physical fitness. In view of weight control program, besides losing weight, it also has great benefit for health-related physical fitness.
