社區生活型態介入計畫對中年婦女之代謝危險因子的成效

Effects of a Community-Based Lifestyle Intervention Program on Metabolic Risk Factors in Middle-Aged Women

摘要

How to reduce the health risks caused by metabolic syndrome is critical to the promotion of health in a community. This study investigated the effect of a short-term community-based lifestyle intervention program on metabolic risk factors in middle-aged women. Fifty-seven middle-aged women with at least one metabolic risk or their body mass index ≧ 24 kg/m^2 were recruited in this study by purposive sampling. They were divided into two groups according to the willing of participation in lifestyle intervention program. In the experimental group (EXP), 37 subjects took the 18-week lifestyle intervention program which included 10-week group lessons (contained nutrition education, physical activity promotion and the introduction of a supported-group model) and 8-week self-monitoring management. The other 20 subjects served in the control group (CON) and did not take any lesson. The analysis of body composition and serum biochemical parameters were conducted before and after the program. In CON, there were no significant differences on body composition and serum biochemical parameters before and after the program. In EXP, body weight, waist circumference (WC), body mass index and body fat percentage significantly decreased (p<.05) after the program, while there were no significant differences on serum biochemical parameters. After carrying out ANCOVA with the pre-test results of the two groups as the covariate, the post-test values of WC, body fat percentage and low-density lipoprotein in EXP were significantly lower than the post-test results for the same items in CON (p<.001). The 18-week lifestyle intervention program may improve WC in middle-aged women and reduce the risk factors of metabolic syndrome.
